高胆固醇自然疗法

胆固醇

预防医学最有意义的发现之一是血液中胆固醇 (Cholesterol) 水平的升高会加速动脉粥样硬化。与高血压、活动量少、吸烟以及糖尿病等一起,高胆固醇已经成为心脏病、中风以及外周血管疾病(在四肢部位阻塞血管循环,尤其是腿部)的重要诱发因素之一。

增加运动量和减轻体重可以很大程度地改善血脂水平。如果这样改变生活方式仍无效,还可以选择许多非常有效的药物。其中抑制素类药物 (Statin) 对改善血脂最为有效,且它们能预防心脏病发作并降低死亡率。其他常用的药物有依泽替米贝(Ezetimibe) 和贝特类 (Fibrate) 药物。有效的自然疗法有:

  • 固醇酯/甾醇 (Stanols/Sterols):固醇酯是多种植物自然产生的物质。它们的降胆固醇作用早于19世纪50年代就在动物身上被发现。自从那以后,大量的研究发现植物固醇酯类能够帮助胆固醇水平正常的或者轻中度升高的人降低胆固醇水平。相关的被称为植物甾醇的物质也具有相同的作用。植物固醇酯/甾醇通过抑制胆固醇的吸收来降低血液中胆固醇的水平。大量的双盲试验发现这些物质可以降低总胆固醇和低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(即对人体有害的LDL)约10%-15%.固醇酯和甾醇还可以增强抑制素类降胆固醇药物和饮食控制的效果。然而,固醇酯/甾醇对高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(即对人体有益的HDL)或者甘油三酯却未显示任何明确的效果。

  • 鱼油:鱼油也显示出对于控制血脂 (尤其是甘油三酯) 具有良好的效果。一项研究发现甾醇联合鱼油使用可以明显降低总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇 (LDL) 以及甘油三酯水平,并能提高高密度脂蛋白 (HDL) 的水平。
