女性到了更年期后,其体内荷尔蒙的变化可能会导致潮热、阴道干燥、焦虑、抑郁和失眠等多种不适。虽然其中大多数不适无疑是由于更年期雌激素生成的自然减少所致,但是人体是如此复杂,医生相信其他激素也可能起一定的作用。

虽然更年期是人生自然过程的一部分而非一种疾病,但是大多数女性都不愿经历这个过程。雌激素替代疗法能缓解许多更年期相关的不适,不过它会带来不少风险。其中最令人担忧的就是它可能会增加乳腺癌的风险。此外,雌激素疗法还可能造成腿部血凝块形成和增加心脏病的风险。故在做出是否使用雌激素替代疗法缓解更年期症状的决定之前需与医生一起详细探讨和权衡利弊。
以下几种自然疗法可能可以缓解更年期的一些症状:
- 大豆和异黄酮 (Isoflavones):大豆及红三叶草等含有异黄酮,它们是具有类雌激素作用的天然物质。研究人员在许多对大豆、大豆异黄酮混合物、甙元异黄酮混合物及羟基异黄酮的研究中发现其能改善潮热、阴道干燥和情绪等不适。例如,在一项涉及247位深受更年期潮热痛苦的女性的双盲试验中,研究人员比较了安慰剂和羟基异黄酮的疗效。结果显示:与安慰剂相比,每日服用 54mg 羟基异黄酮能明显改善潮热症状。
- 黑升麻 (Black cohosh):黑升麻可能可以有效缓解潮热等更年期的不适。一项为期12周、涉及304位有更年期症状的女性的双盲研究发现:黑升麻在缓解更年期症状 (尤其是潮热) 远较安慰剂有效。在另一项为期3个月的对120位更年期女性的双盲研究中也得到了类似的结果。在这项研究中,受试者分别接受黑升麻或药物氟西汀 (即“百忧解”) 治疗。试验结果显示:对潮热的缓解方面,黑升麻较氟西汀有效;但是在治疗更年期情绪障碍方面,氟西汀优于黑升麻。
