偶尔便秘可以自我治疗。然而,如果长期便秘,应该去看医生。治疗便秘的天然疗法有:
- 纤维 (Fiber) 和水:增加饮食中的纤维含量(如粗粮、水果、蔬菜等)和水的摄入量是治疗慢性便秘的首选方法。另外,还可以通过服用纤维补充剂, 如欧车前果壳 (psyllium husks)、脱苦的胡卢巴种子 (fenugreek)、葡甘露聚糖 (glucomannan) 和亚麻子 (flaxseed) 等。常用的纤维补充剂用量是每天1-3次,每次5-10g,同时饮用至少半升水。刚开始服用纤维补充剂时,剂量可以小些,然后慢慢加量,因为一次性摄入大量的纤维反而会加重便秘。
- 草药:一些草药, 如美鼠李皮 (cascara sagrada)、番泻树 (senna) 和普通沙棘 (common buckthorn), 是缓泻剂,研究已经证明它们对便秘有效。这些草药的作用机理是靠其中的一种蒽醌类化学成分 (anthraquinones) 来刺激结肠壁。如果大量服用这些草药,人体会产生依赖性。另外,如果过量,还会导致钾的大量流失,这对正在服用地高辛族类药物 (digoxin) 的患者尤其不好。
